December Days Closed Until October 2009. See You Then!

Well, I had a great time starting my Christmas blog over after a year off. Thank you to all my friends that made this a wonderful experience. And thank you Bonnie. I'm so glad that you made a Christmas blog for your family. It was an awesome idea and I'm sure it will inspire others to do the same. I have never had such a rushed holiday like this. Having a Christmas family blog will surely take the pressure off of the holidays. I hope everyone we know on bloggerland will utilize this idea. It was brilliant. So until next year.......Have a great 2009!

Christmas Homes Are Posting On Timeless Things. Thanks For All Of The Pictures

Hello, I have your pictures ready to go and I have already posted some really great photos of your homes. Thank you for your patience while I load all the pictures. We have been having server problems so it's running slow even on my laptop. The kinks seemed to have worked out since last night so I will be posting the rest of the pictures tonight until Saturday night. Don't hesitate send your pictures. I was going to post them on here but I decided to go ahead and do it only on Timeless Things. I have so throughly enjoyed looking at all of your Christmas pictures!

Also, If your house is lit up on the outside and you would like to see it posted, go ahead and send it over. The next batch of pictures I post will have many lit up homes. I love them. It was so hard to select from the many choices that were sent to me. I can't wait!

Pictures of Your Homes Will Post On Friday!

Hi there! I will be posting all pictures of your homes and Christmas Trees on Friday and Saturday on both December Days and Timeless Things. Thank you to my San Antonio friends who have come through for me once again and to those involved with my Deanna Daydreams and Praying Room blogs for sending me so many wonderful pictures. I can't wait to see all of my other friends blogs from bloggerland. I hope they send me some pics soon!

If you have any pictures of your fireplace and or mantel that you would like to see on here go on ahead and send them on over. No limit and I will prominately put your name as being the owner of those pictures. Do you have a favorite stocking? A favorite picture of you and Santa Claus when you were a child? A picture of you and your favorite Christmas toy? Send it over!I would love to see some ideas on decorating tables. I haven't even done my own yet but I plan on doing that this weekend. Hop over to BJ's blog, Sweet Nothings and she has some wonderful pictures of her tablescape. What a wonderful idea one of her friends had to post your tables dressed up for the holidays! I can just imagine my friend Byisteal's table this year. She had a silver tablescape last year with these beautiful silver Christmas tree topiaries and silver plate chargers underneath some very blue glass plates. She had sugared fruit in silver bowls all around the table and silver "greenery" if you will, placed ever so delicately in between her silver trees. Blue ball glass ornaments were peeking out of her silver greenery and she had a half dozen crystal candle holders in which she placed her collection of delicate vintage Christmas tree toppers. I will have to call her and ask if she's got a picture of that. I hope she does. Bonnie, if you read this, I know you've got some great ideas and I can only dream of what your table will look like. Please send me your ideas. I would love to see them. What fun to share ideas with friends.

Well, I am counting on you all to make this a wonderful month of posts for this here ol' blog. Anything you want to share is most welcome here. I don't have very many photos of our Christmases..I'm not sure why? Maybe we were so into presents that we forgot to take pictures of our glee. Darn it. I would love to have had at least one picture of my favorite Christmas gift ever. My Ideal Velvet doll. I'm still trying to get her from Ebay. I know she's out there.
Goodnight for now,
Deanna

GETTING READY FOR CHRISTMAS

Recipes
I am so excited today. My husband Marshall and I are staying tonight until Wednesday night at a romantic hotel. I will be posting recipes on December Days, the wonderful recipes you sent me by email. Even my friends from work that lurk came out and sent their secret recipes. Thank you Byisteal, Darraleigh, Mary, Farren and Veronica, who actually gave me her recipe for delicious oatmeal bars last year. She tried my first foray into baking with those dreaded oatmeal bars. She is polite about it....almost too sweetly quiet. Okay...I forgot the sugar....I forgot to put a lot of cinnamon and they were just plain bland. Poor Veronica! Even her son Gus tried them and he was a gentleman about it. Tasting them like a connoisseur, he told Veronica that yes, they were missing some key ingredients. "Not bad, but it needs sugar and cinnamon". Poor Gus. It's a year later and I hope my oatmeal bars are up to par with hers. She is a mighty fine baker!
Enjoy the recipes and please, feel free to send me anything you'd like me to post. Stuffing recipes, desserts and somebody please send me a good recipe for yeast rolls!
Happy cooking and baking,
Deanna

My Doctor Said "NO"

Hi everyone! Hope you all are doing well today. I will be away from my computer as per doctors orders for a couple of days :{ . Since my job requires me to be on a computer, he thought it best for me to stay off of it at home. So, I will do what he asks even though I will be itching to get on just to see what you all are up to! I'll have to tie my hands up.

I have a request. Can you ladies send me pictures of your Christmas trees when you are finished putting them up? I would like to feature them on my Christmas blog. I will credit your tree of course. Also, any family recipes you would like to share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you ladies! See you on Saturday!
Deanna :)

Lights On!

What would we do without the lights? Our homes need them as do your lovely Christmas trees! The choices are limitless. Look at these star lights. I just love them.

Each year, department stores put out various bulbs and strings that can be perfectly coordinated with your tree design or theme. I've seen colored lights in amber, pink, purple and lime green.

These bulbs are so beautiful when lit. Even though they are colored, when lit, they have a clear colored effect. Fabulous for use on the outside of your house and very bright.

If you are in to vintage decorations like I am, then red bell lights are for you. You can find any kind of vintage lights on Ebay and red bells aren't the only lights you can find. I've seen Santa lights, little green plastic star lights and lights that look like candy. Dollar stores are wonderful places to check out for these kind of lights. They stock Christmas items that larger department stores don't carry.

Who can forget the beautiful bubble lights? My mother remembers them so well. I didn't even know about bubble lights until about ten years ago. Now you can find them everywhere. Wal-Mart always has bubble lights available at Christmas time. You should try them at least once. You won't be disappointed.

New to the market are present shaped lights. They come in various shapes and sizes. These strings of lights are available in a multitude of colors as well. They take up a lot of blank space so they do work well to hide gaps in your tree.

LED lights are probably the most used lights at this time. The colors are vibrant and give off a lovely solid glow. Multi-colored one's are my favorite.

They come in clear

round shaped

and smaller versions in multi-colors. Before you throw your lights on the tree run out and take a look at what's available at your local hobby store and or dollar stores. I wanted to try my bubble lights this year but I forgot that we bought a new pre-lit revolving tree last year so that's out! Still, I might place a string of them on my fireplace mantle. I can't imagine a Christmas without them.
